Character Profiles VINE VEIN #3: Geon

One of the Copper City’s most infamous murderers, Geon’s execution had been faked by Redshift, and instead she was allowed to join the ranks of Vine Vein. She was bloodthirsty, set in her ways, headstrong, and determined not only to spread more chaos and bleakness across Malstray, but to help in bringing all of Redshift’s dreams into reality. She owed her life to Redshift, and would thrive in paying that debt back.

Dirty Deeds

Geon had only a single memory about her childhood, and it was that she had murdered her younger brother. Everything before and after that was a blur. As an adult, her memory had returned to normal function, leaving that traumatic time of her life inaccessible. Her brother’s death was labeled an accident, and her father became so depressed and consumed with grief that he took his own life an age later. Geon lived in their home until a group broke in one night. They took everything, including Geon’s body by force. Geon’s already sick mind splintered into poison shards, and what might’ve been a one time mistake she had committed while in a rage, was now about to turn into an unstoppable torrent.

The streets of the Copper City knew not what lurked in them, nor did the Copperites. Geon would lie in wake, waiting for stray Copperites to come across her path, then she would snatch them into the shadows. Body after body she would leave behind, each one growing her insatiable hunger for the next kill.

Heard, Seen, Felt

As the city guards struggled to find any info about the murderer, and the killings began to trickle into the Northern District, King Gallenthrall sent a specialized group of them out from Darkcholy in order to investigate and aid in the search. Redshift loomed over the situation, though didn’t involve herself until the search had been concluded, and the killer was brought before her.

75 bodies were recovered from all across the city—with most being found in the Pit of the Shade. It took Gallenthrall’s squad of detectives setting a trap in order to catch Geon, where weighted nets were dropped from rooftops. Geon’s stoicism was disturbing, as she hardly reacted at all to being set up and captured. Gallenthrall would never forget the look on the woman’s face, the evil in her eyes.

Geon was brought to Darkcholy, and shown to Redshift and Master Flesh Flayer Chime. Her crimes admitted to, and the evidence overwhelming, she was to be executed publicly. Redshift and Geon felt something as they locked eyes, a sort of unspoken kinship that only they picked up on. Redshift said that she would handle the arrangements, and the rest was left up to her. A day before Geon’s execution, Redshift switched her out for someone else, taking her under her wing instead.

This was the first time Geon had felt seen, heard, and felt. Redshift wasn’t appalled by the woman’s actions, in fact she was impressed, thoroughly. Given praise, Geon found herself enamored with Redshift, and willing to do anything she asked, as her life was finally seeming to have a true purpose beyond mindless killing. Her skills could be put to task now, she could be herself and be rewarded for it.

The city’s killings had only just begun, as Vine Vein received another member, and Geon left even more of her humanity behind…
