Character Profiles VINE VEIN #5: Emile

Emile was an unsavory, crass, bloodthirsty, and confident package of spite and cruelty. The final piece of Vine Vein to be gathered, he was also the most enamored with Redshift—something which bought his way into being the fifth member of her secret organization.

He was a witness to Allef’s ripping the head off the merchant from Gorr, as well as Redshift’s ability to soothe the wild man. He followed Redshift and Allef for awhile, but was discovered by Redshift. She turned down an alley, away from any other eyes, and snatched Emile out from his hiding place. She dug her nails into his throat, asking him why she shouldn’t kill him. Emile told her that she was Vilakku to him, that he had tried many times and failed to become a guard, and to one day make it into the Copper Legion. Redshift looked to Allef, then back to Emile. She asked her stalker what his plan was for following them, to which Emile responded that he only wished to gaze upon her for as long as possible, that he had no sinister intentions, quite the opposite in fact, he wished to worship her majesty.

Bought In With Compliments and Competency

Redshift was anything but immune to flattery and reverence. She let Emile go, and checked to make sure they were alone. Emile dropped to his knees, kissing Redshift’s feet. She asked him what skills he had to offer her, and he replied by saying that he was quite proficient with a morning star, and that he had one on his hip. Redshift looked to Allef, and asked him if he could use weaponry, to which Allef replied that he could use a flail rather proficiently. Redshift turned the two of them loose on one another, stating that the winner would be awarded a place at her side, and the loser she would kill. Allef and Emile dueled, with Emile coming up as the victor, only to have Allef’s Red come out after blood was drawn, and then Allef easily and quickly came out on top. Allef was about to tear Emile limb from limb, but remarkably, Emile was able to soothe Allef, speaking to him in a calming manner, and Allef saw a resemblance of a childhood friend in Emile. The both of them remembered one another, as in fact they had known each other as children, though had never seen another again since they were young.

Redshift chuckled, as the odds of their coming back together through Allef’s murder, and her presence being there was something that mathematically shouldn’t have happened. But here they were. She took them both back with her, stating that from now on their lives belonged to her, and that she could sow them riches finer and more grand than anything they’d dreamt of. She admired and recognized true grit when she saw it, and she needed only the most loyal in her company, and these two seemed like quite the perfect pair.
