Excerpt #1 From THE LIGHTLESS
Since she had lost access to Lightless blood—that effervescent and all-important, liquid vitality—Redshift quickly lost what should’ve been a near unlimited pool of strength. She hunted less and less. Her remarkable body shriveled, eating itself without the saccharine taste of the green blood she so desperately longed for. While still a sight to behold, huge and full of menace, obtaining food each day was enough to sap her of all her energy. Animals entered her diet; they were much easier to catch and to kill, and they at least she mostly recognized. It seemed as if the wildlife here was similar to back home.

The people in this forsaken realm hadn’t curbed Redshift’s appetite, nothing had, but they had done well in passing the time.
